Antonio Conte wants to add a couple of wide players to his squad this summer and Chelsea are believed to be keen on signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, and now they could be one step closer to securing his signature.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Arsenal are ready to sell the England international this summer as they look to significantly reduce the club’s wage bill after the Premier League introduced new cost control measures which kick in at the start of next season.
With his contract up at the end of next season, Oxlade-Chamberlain had been in talks with Arsenal over extending his deal at the Emirates but they appear to have stalled.
The former Southampton youngster impressed for Arsenal in a right wing-back during the second half of the season which would appeal to Chelsea who employ a similar formation.
While it’s reported that Liverpool are likely to sign the winger in a £25m deal, now that Arsenal are ready to part ways with the versatile midfielder, Chelsea could firm up their interest and submit a bid of their own for him.
