Chelsea’s reputation for loaning out their young players to Dutch clubs looks set to continue, with Todd Kane poised to seal a deal to join Groningen.
According to a report from the Mirror today, the young defender is looking likely to move out to the Eredivise for a second season running in the upcoming campaign, joining Groningen on a temporary basis.
Kane plied his trade with NEC Breda last season and has seemingly impressed in the Netherlands, earning himself yet another move – this time to a bigger club.
Although Kane’s spell with NEC was cut short as a result of an injury, he’s certainly demonstrated potential and has been impressive when called upon.
Chelsea’s abundance of quality defenders means that players such as Kane will find first-team opportunities hard to come by in the near future, so a loan move is likely to be the most beneficial avenue for the youngster.
