David Luiz is being considered as the next Chelsea captain ahead of Gary Cahill, Dean Jones reports.
The 30-year-old was re-signed by Chelsea for £34 million last summer and has transformed into a quality defender for Chelsea. Luiz’s first spell at Chelsea was mostly solid but he was prone to mistakes, he was then sold to French giants PSG for £50 million.
Luiz had a great season last year for the Blues he was named in the PFA Team of the Year; sparking talk of the Brazilian replacing long-serving John Terry, who has recently joined Aston Villa after being released by the club, as captain.

Luiz played 33 of Chelsea’s 38 Premier League games last season and was part of the back three that changed the Blues fortune throughout the season.
Current captain Gary Cahill, 31, has been at Stamford Bridge since 2012 and would feel confident about his chances of being named captain again after Terry himself backed him for the role.
