Chelsea set to match Manchester United offer for Lukaku

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are looking to match Manchester United’s £75 million offer for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

This comes following more rumours of disruption between Antonio Conte and the board over Chelsea’s transfer dealings this summer – who is known to have had his heart set on Lukaku, before United jumped ahead of the Blues in line for the forward.

Despite seemingly undergoing a medical in Los Angeles with United, a deal has yet to be confirmed, and now Chelsea are hoping to swoop in for the Belgian.

Pictures of Lukaku training with United’s star midfielder Paul Pogba surfaced on the internet this week, and as a result, Everton are unhappy at the 24-year-old for not reporting back to their training ground.

Conte had identified Lukaku as his ideal replacement for Atletico-bound striker Diego Costa, who’s public feud with the Italian has been ongoing since the end of the season.

Lukaku has long been a prolific striker in the Premier League, scoring 85 goals during spells with West Brom and Everton, despite struggling to make an impact in his first spell at Chelsea.

Chelsea have also reportedly targeted Torino striker Andrea Belotti, Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and Swansea target man Fernando Llorente – who was successfully deployed by Conte during their time with Juventus.
