Chelsea have allowed striker Diego Costa to miss the start of pre-season this week as he looks to try and secure a move back to Atletico Madrid, The Telegraph reports.
The Chelsea players returned for pre-season today but the club have agreed to allowing Costa to have further time off as he looks to push through a move back to his old club Atletico Madrid.
Antonio Conte informed Costa at the start of the summer by text that his services would not be required next season and the player is believed to have already said goodbye to his Chelsea team mates ahead of his move to Atletico.
Atletico have offered around £26million for the 28-year-old but Chelsea want more money for the player and negotiations will continue this week.

The La Liga side are unable to register any player until January due to their transfer embargo, meaning that Costa would be ineligible to play for the club until that point.
BeIn sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri has reported that Turkish side Besiktas have already made contact with Atletico in the hope of securing a six-month loan deal until January for Costa.
However it is unclear whether Costa would be willing to make two moves in six months.
