Southampton have joined fellow Premier League side Watford in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, according to a report by Goal.
Chelsea have allowed fellow youngsters Nathan Ake to join Bournemouth and Bertrand Traore to join Lyon respectively this summer and it looks like Chalobah may well be the next youngster to depart the club permanently, with multiple sides interested in the midfielder.
Chalobah, 22, looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after Chelsea complete the signing of Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, with Watford reportedly already offering the Blues £5 million for their academy graduate.
However, it looks like Watford boss Marco Silva faces competition from Southampton, who have also joined the race for the youngster’s services and are preparing a bid of their own.
Chalobah made his first-team debut for the Blues last season, making only five starts, alongside 10 appearances from the substitutes bench, during the title-winning season.
