Italian giants Juventus have been interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic for some time and have opened talks with the Serbian’s agent, according to a report on Calcio Mercato.
The Serie A champions have been monitoring the defensive midfielder situation for the last couple of weeks and have now opened talks with Chelsea over signing him, according to Italian news outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The two clubs are yet to officially confirm that negotiations have started and have not received any official bids, but Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have made it clear that they want €45 million for Matic.
However, due to the Blues wanting to clear up some of the players on their wage bill, they may lower the price after the player was left out of their squad for their pre-season fixtures.
Matic has been left behind to sort out his future and to decide where he wants to play his football next season, with fellow Premier League club Manchester United also interested in securing his services for the upcoming season.
Inter Milan have also registered their interest in Matic. UEFA Champions League finalists Juventus are only ready to offer €35 million for Matic and hope that the Blues will accept that offer.
Matic looks like he will be on the fringes of the Chelsea squad after they secured the signature of French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco last week.
