Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is desperate to add a couple of players to his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month and has been targeting a move for Manchester United target Sergi Roberto.
The Spaniard rose to prominence last season after impressing in a right-back role for Barcelona as a stand-in for the injured Aleix Vidal and has emerged as a possible Chelsea signing.
Primarily a central midfielder, Roberto could in effect plug two holes for the Blues given his versatility, making him a very coveted option by Antonio Conte.
Manchester United are also interested in signing Roberto this summer and have had an offer rejected by Barcelona for him, but he does have a €40m release clause in his contract.

However, clubs do need to be wary that Roberto is eyeing a new contract with Barcelona and could use interest in him as leverage against Barcelona in renewal talks.
Barcelona do not want to sell him and may cave in to his demands should he threaten to leave.
