Chelsea have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Southampton defender Cedric Soares.
According to a report from the Evening Standard today, the Blues will need to cough up “silly money” to secure a move for the Portugal international.
Southampton are keen to retain the services of their key players this summer, and Cedric is very much included in that bracket. Saints are keen to change the perception that they are a selling club, and are determined to keep hold of players such as Cedric and Virgil van Dijk.

Chelsea remain intent on bolstering their wide options, with Antonio Conte still keen to recruit more quality before the end of the window.
Cedric was targeted by the Blues with the view of giving Victor Moses some competition at right wing-back, but it looks as though Saints may have priced them out of a move for the Portugal international.
The former Sporting CP man won Euro 2016 with Portugal last summer.
