Chelsea have reportedly made the first move in the race to sign Ross Barkley from Everton.
According to a report from the Telegraph this evening, the Blues have lodged an offer worth £25 million as they look to lure the England international away from Goodison Park.
Barkley is keen to leave Everton and has just under a year remaining on his current deal. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have been linked with the midfielder, but Chelsea’s interest appears to be the most concrete.

Everton are aware that they will need to reach a compromise with other clubs over their valuation of Barkley, and it remains to be seen whether £25m will be enough to land the creative Toffees star.
The 23-year-old is set to be ruled out for a couple more months yet, though. He is currently suffering with a hamstring injury, and will not be instantly available for selection if he does complete a move to Chelsea.
