Time is running out for Antonio Conte to strengthen his Chelsea squad before the transfer window closes but he has now turned his attentions to a player closer to home after failing with moves for multiple players in Serie A.
Italian journalist Emanuele Guilianelli notes that the Blues are readying a big-money move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Serie A clubs Roma and Inter Milan have both been looking to sign Mahrez this summer but Leicester have stood firm on their asking price.

Arsenal have also been linked with the Algerian and Craig Shakespeare says that Mahrez only wants to join a top six club in the Premier League as Chelsea ready their move.
Conte has held talks with Mahrez over a move to Stamford Bridge with Chelsea ready to offer €50m (£46.5m) to sign the talented attacker.
Mahrez was named PFA Player of the Year when Leicester shocked the world and won the 2015/16 Premier League and is eager to move on to a top club this summer and Chelsea will be hopeful they can beat Arsenal to his signature.
