Chelsea eye up Sagna move

Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Bacary Sagna, who is a free agent, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims that Chelsea are considering an approach for Sagna, who has been without a club since leaving Manchester City at the end of last season.

Antonio Conte is an admirer of the Frenchman and would be willing to offer him a contract for the season to bolster his options at the back.

Chelsea are lacking in depth in the wing-back roles and Conte is desperate to sign a player to compete with Victor Moses.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was billed as that man, but he rejected Chelsea in order to join Liverpool.

Chelsea had a £40m offer accepted by Arsenal but the winger was not prepared to play at right wing-back every week, with Liverpool offering him to play in his preferred position.

The club are also considering a move for Southampton defender Cedric Soares.
