Four ways Chelsea could line up following the transfer window

While they may have missed out on some key transfer targets Chelsea have had a busy summer none the less.

Head coach Antonio Conte made six summer signings and now has to focus on challenging both in the Premier League and the Champions League.

There were plenty of ins and outs at Stamford Bridge and the Italian has some big decisions to make with his next team selection.

Now that the transfer window is all said and done we look Conte can fit his new signings into the 3-4-3 system.

Focus on Zappacosta

The Italian joined from Torino and gives Conte another option in the wing back position. It is unlikely that the defender could come directly into the first-team, but he’s a player that Conte knows well. As an astute crosser of the ball, he and Alonso could be a very dangerous pairing going forward.

Moses has performed admirably over his brief career as a wing back but has had little to no competition. If fans could have any complainants over the Nigerian, it is his final ball, and that will really be tested following the competition of Zappacosta.

Cahill remains banned for the trip to Leicester but is likely to return to the starting XI at the earliest possible moment.

Bakayoko and Kante duo

Courtois, Moses, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill, Alonso; Bakayoko, Kante; Willian, Hazard; Morata.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was one of the biggest deals of the summer for Chelsea. Joining the club as a replacement for Nemanja Matic, he could really flourish alongside N’Golo Kante.

While he was not fully fit, he impressed against Spurs at Wembley, so the best is yet to come from the Frenchman.

Willian has impressed early in the season when given the chance, his inclusion highlights the depth Conte has in attacking positions.

Christensen to prove his worth

Another player who caught the headlines at Wembley was Andreas Christensen, who made his first start for the Premier League champions.

Despite a few nervous moments, Christensen impressed and dealt with Harry Kane reasonably well. He’ll face easier tests this season and the Danish defender looks like a great addition to a strong list of central defenders.

Whether Conte will risk him in front of the returning Cahill and fellow summer signing Antonio Rudiger is yet to be seen.

The Italian has been reluctant to include youth throughout his time at the Bridge, but if Christensen can continue to perform, he’ll make it very hard for Conte to continue in that vein.

Signings galore

Courtois, Zappacosta, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Bakayoko, Kante; Pedro, Hazard; Morata.

This potential line up sees four of the six summer signings all named alongside each other in a starting XI that looks equally as strong as last season.

Rudiger has also impressed in the early stages of his Chelsea career, which gives Conte a selection headache at the back.

It was key for Conte to strength over the summer as well as to add depth to the squad, with Champions League football to contend with this season.

The arrival of Danny Drinkwater from Leicester highlights this. In his mind, he is aware of the fact he joins potentially as the club’s fourth choice central midfielder and he has a fight on his hands to try and dislodge Bakayoko and/or Kante.
