Diego Costa has not been included in Chelsea’s squad for the Champions League group stages.
The Spanish international, who was included in the club’s Premier League squad, is currently refusing to return to training at Chelsea and is currently in Brazil.
Chelsea have taken the decision not to include him in the squad, meaning he can now not play in any group game in the Champions League.
The striker was unable to secure a transfer to Atletico Madrid during the summer, even though it seemed like all parties involved wanted a deal to get done.
During the summerm Antonio Conte reportedly told the striker, via text message, that he was no longer needed at the club and the relationship between the pair has seemingly soured ever since.
Even though Costa was named in the Premier League squad, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll ever see him in a blue shirt ever again.
