After a £35m transfer to Chelsea fell through on transfer deadline day, Ross Barkley is ready to wait until January before leaving Everton.
Chelsea were hoping to land the England international during the summer, fending off interest from Tottenham in the process, but the midfielder changed his mind on the move midway through his medical on Thursday night.
With just one year left on his contract, the 23-year-old is set to leave Everton sooner or later but the Mirror note that Barkley favours a January transfer to Tottenham over Chelsea should the opportunity arises.
Barkley is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury which could rule him out until the New Year but he’s ready to bide him time, return to full fitness before finalising his future.
Everton have moved on from Barkley by signing Gylfi Sigurdsson who operates the same role but where he ends up next remains to be seen.
