Fenerbahce’s loan deal for Costa breaks down

Chelsea striker Diego Costa appears to be no closer to securing a move away from the club.

It’s been reported on a widespread basis today that there is concrete interest from Turkey, with both Fenerbahce and Besiktas having been linked with short-term loan deals for the Spanish international.

However, with Besiktas’ interest appearing to have been less advanced than Fenerbahce’s, the latter’s manager Aykut Kocaman is quoted by the Mirror, admitting that a deal for Costa is now far away.

We were really close to signing Diego Costa but now we seem far away. The talks between the two clubs were going really well. But here we are.

The Brazilian-born striker wants to rejoin Atletico Madrid but will only be allowed to do so in January, when their transfer embargo is lifted.

Costa has been exiled by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who has made it clear to the powerful forward for some time now that he is not in his plans going forward.

The Turkish transfer window slams shut tomorrow, and it’s looking likely that Costa will not be making the trip across Europe to play for Fenerbahce at this stage.
