Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante spoke of how he was delighted to have helped his side to an important win over Leicester City at the weekend.
The Frenchman discussed the game with Chelsea’s official club website, and explained how he was happy with the performance from the team, along with his own.
It was a tough game. They had a lot of chances but we fight and had some chances. We won and that is the most important thing.
Kante scored Chelsea’s second goal on the day after Alvaro Morata powered them into the lead with a good header. With Jamie Vardy’s goal having reduced the deficit on the day, Kante’s strike proved to be decisive in what was a toughly-contested game.
The France international also spoke of how it felt to play against his old side, and especially to score. Kante enjoyed a hugely successful season with Leicester and was a pivotal part of their shock Premier League title win back in 2015/16.
It is always special to play against my old team. Everyone knows I spent an amazing year here but when I come I try to win. This was an important win for my team and I was happy to score.
It’s always a pleasure to score but I kept it inside because I want to respect my old team.
Kante’s goal is sure to be of great value to Chelsea going forward as they look to retain their own Premier League honour this season.
