Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Atakan Akkaynak for a long time now but they might have to make a move to sign him sooner rather than later as Barcelona are also interested in taking him to the Nou Camp.
As reported by The Express, the 18 year-old is being touted as one of the best youth products in German football for some time and as such, he’s attracting attention from all over Europe.
Chelsea have been keen to add the best young talent to their squad and send them on loan to get valuable experience and they could have a similar plan for Akkaynak.
However, the Blues will not be the only team in for the German under-19 international and if Barcelona do decide to make an offer, there’s a good chance that he might be tempted to make a move to La Liga.
Leverkusen are believed to be interested in cashing in on their star man as his contract is starting to run out and it looks like he has no intention of signing an extension.
