Hazard says Antonio Conte made him a better player in a week

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has praised manager Antonio Conte by saying that the Italian improved him as a player after working with him for just one week.

As reported by Darren Lewis of The Mirror, Hazard admitted that the club’s training sessions aren’t always fun but that the players all accept this because of the results they produce.

He said:

There’s a lot of tactics. It’s not always nice as a forward as you have to run, defend and everything, but at least at the weekend, you know exactly what to do, you can even close your eyes and play. That’s good. We work a lot. It’s not always easy in training, there are a lot of hours of training, but it bears fruit on the pitch. We play well, we won last year. You can see that that’s the key to success: work.

Hazard is being brought back into the first team slowly after he suffered an ankle injury in the summer and he’s likely to play some part in the League Cup game against Nottingham Forest as he looks to build himself up to full fitness.

When asked if working with Conte has helped him improve his tactical understanding of the game, Hazard said:

You have to [improve]. Even after a week, I think I had progressed with him but I think he’s shown, not just at Chelsea but also at Juve, that he’s a good coach and I think he has some good years ahead of him.
