Conte sympathises with Pedro

Antonio Conte has expressed his sympathy for Pedro, with the Chelsea winger having picked up yet another knock.

The Spanish wide man has been unlucky with injuries already this season, and looks to have been dealt yet another setback. He was forced off in the Blues’ 0-0 stalemate on Sunday afternoon against Arsenal. Pedro was withdrawn at half-time, and Conte fears he will need a bit more time to fully recover.

As quoted by the Evening Standard, the Blues boss commented on Pedro’s unfortunate start to the campaign:

This season he is not lucky. He started with a bad injury in the Arsenal game – a friendly game – where he broke a bone in his face. Then he received a knock on his ankle, now on his leg.

I hope for him – but overall for our team – to be more lucky in the future.

Pedro was a key player for Chelsea throughout the course of last season. He netted on nine occasions as he helped them to secure the Premier League title in Conte’s maiden season in English football.

For sure now, Pedro is trying to recover from the last injury. It is important for him also to work because don’t forget when you are injured you cannot work.

The Spaniard has made four starts so far this season, and has come off the bench once. He’ll be keen to make a swift recovery as he looks to contribute to yet another positive campaign.

Sometimes can you lose your physical condition and you need more time to find this. But I think nothing too serious about the last injury but he needs a bit of time to recover.
