Fabregas looking to kick on with Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas has spoken of his happiness at Chelsea, and has insisted that he is ready to kick on with the club.

The Spanish midfielder is gearing up to take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League with the Blues, and spoke to Marca ahead of the group stage clash.

Fabregas has been heavily involved in Chelsea’s first-team this season and has been in fine form. Competition is high in the Blues’ midfield, but the Spaniard appears to be determined to keep hold of his place and continue to impress Antonio Conte.

The experienced midfielder also discussed the departure of his international teammate Diego Costa, insisting that there has not been a better striker than him in recent years.

Clearly I would have preferred for him to continue as a teammate. Diego will never be a rival to me. In recent years there has not been a pure striker better than him; he understood my game, read my passes and most importantly he could score from them.

With Diego it is not just what he gives you on the pitch but it is his character, too, he brings a lot to the group.

Fabregas was also insistent that leaving Chelsea never even crossed his mind, as he looks to contribute to yet another successful season with the Blues following last year’s immense success, as they scooped the Premier League title.

I know what I can give the team and if I can play or not so I decided to stay and fight.

With Antonio there is no option other than to compete and give 100 percent in every training session and each match.
