Abraham denies he has switched national allegiances

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has denied claims that he has committed his international future to Nigeria.

There have been reports claiming that the forward had decided to switch his national allegiance to Nigeria, despite representing England across various age groups.

Abraham has now confirmed that this is not the case and that he has made England aware of the fact that he is still available for selection.

Speaking to Voice Online, Abraham said this:

I have informed The FA that I remain available for selection for England. Contrary to reports in the media I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance. I can confirm I met the president given he is a friend of my father. However, any suggestion that I have made a decision to change my international representation is incorrect and wide of the mark. I have informed The FA that I remain available for selection for England.

He was named in the latest England under-21 squad on Thursday. Abraham has scored three goals in nine games for the under-21 side.

The striker qualifies to play for either Nigeria or England, with Nigeria hoping their offer of more regular game-time could tempt Abraham.

Abraham is currently on loan to Premier League side Swansea, for who he has scored two goals this season.

The teenager scored 26 goals whilst on loan to Championship side Bristol City last season.
