Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he is happy for Andreas Christensen to fill the void left by David Luiz against Manchester City.
The young defender is set to step in for Luiz, who will serve another game of his suspension. He was sent off for a reckless lunge on Sead Kolasinac in Chelsea’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal, and is therefore sidelined for the game against City.
As quoted by talkSPORT, Conte did admit that Luiz would be a big loss for his side as they gear up for one of their most important games this season.
For sure it’s a big loss. Andreas Christensen is playing well and showing he is a really good player. I’m happy with his performances.
Christensen had spent the previous two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, and certainly made an impression. He returned to Chelsea last summer as a much improved player, and will now be keen to take a golden chance on Saturday.
Chelsea would go level on points with City if they secure all three points at Stamford Bridge.
