Alvaro Morata pulls out of Spain squad

Alvaro Morata has decided not to risk further injury and has pulled out of the Spain squad for their World Cup Qualifiers against Albania and Israel.

The striker was suffering from a niggling hamstring issue but a decision was made by Antonio Conte to start his top scorer against Manchester City on Saturday.

Unfortunately for the Blues, Morata’s injury began to flare up once again and he made the decision to take himself out of the game, according to Conte.

I don’t think it’s a serious problem because he stopped before it will become a serious injury. He said to me, ‘Coach, I prefer to stop myself otherwise I risk a bad injury.’

The doctor now in the next days has to check the situation, but I don’t think he’s available for the national team.

Morata was taken off after just 35 minutes as Chelsea fell to a 1-0 home defeat to City who extend their lead over the Blues at the top of the Premier League table to six points after seven games.

The injury is not believed to be a serious one and the Chelsea camp are hopeful that Morata will be fit and available to add to his six Premier League goals in two weeks time when they take on Crystal Palace who prop up the table.
