Morata suffers grade two hamstring injury

Chelsea could be without Alvaro Morata for over a month as he looks to have suffered a grade two hamstring injury.

It’s been claimed by the Spanish Football Federation, as covered by the Telegraph, that the powerful forward has undergone an MRI scan, and has discovered the extent of his injury.

Morata limped off in the first half of Chelsea’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City on Saturday evening, raising concerns that he would be out for a prolonged period.

He has withdrawn from the Spain squad after discovering the extent of his hamstring issue, and looks set for a spell on the sidelines.

It’s stated in the report that hamstring injuries of this extent often lead to a period of between six to eight weeks out of action, which could spell bad news for Antonio Conte, who has relied on Morata this season.

The former Real Madrid man has been in superb form in the opening stages of the campaign and losing him would be a big blow.
