Chelsea face competition for Serie A teenage star
Chelsea now face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Genoa star Pietro Pellegri, who is just 16 years old, talkSPORT report.
The forward became the joint youngest ever Serie A debutant last season at 15 years and 280 days and is now establishing himself as a regular in Genoa’s first team, attracting interest from all over Europe with his recent performances, including Blues boss Antonio Conte.
Pellegri scored his first senior goal in what was Roma legend Francesco Totti’s last game as a footballer, and the Blues have been reportedly sending a team of scouts to Italy to monitor the teenager’s rapid progress.
The 6ft 4in teenager is thought to be a boyhood Genoa fan, so it would take a huge offer for the youngster to part ways with his beloved club in Serie A, something Conte may attempt in the upcoming January window.
