Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli has insisted that Antonio Conte can cope with the pressure at Stamford Bridge.
The ex-Blues striker and boss discussed reports that Conte is facing a testing period at the club after a mixed start. Although Chelsea sit some way off the top of the Premier League, Vialli is backing them to overcome a difficult start.
As quoted by the Mirror, Vialli was full of praise for Conte, and backed him to help the Blues to another successful season.
Antonio Conte has done fantastically well at Chelsea but it’s not crazy he is under pressure, it’s what football has become. You are hired to get results. His future does not depend only on what he wants to do. If that was the case a lot of managers would stay at the same club for many, many years.
I’m sure that Antonio is thinking about staying for as long as possible but is perfectly aware that things might change very quickly in football – when you are a manager, you know that is part of your job.

Vialli was the first ever Italian manager in the Premier League, and is evidently a big fan of his compatriot. Conte is tasked with a big challenge in mounting a title charge given Manchester City’s start, too.
I don’t think he gets affected by that too much, actually. If anything, he might get even more motivated and might try to do even better in order to try to change some of the perceptions of people who might judge him.
Pep Guardiola’s side are currently running away with the title as things stand, with them five points clear of Manchester United in 2nd, and nine points ahead of Chelsea, who currently sit in 4th place.
I think that when you have been in a manager in Italy, you can cope with this sort of situation that’s thrown at you in the Premiership.
I love the Premiership, I think it’s the most entertaining league in the world but when it comes to pressure, I think there’s more pressure in Italy and therefore you learn how to deal with that. Even at Chelsea.
