Chelsea reportedly set sights on Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea are eyeing a sensational move for Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri to succeed Antonio Conte, according to reports in Italy.

Sarri, whose Napoli side are currently second in Serie A with a game in hand, has attracted interest and praise in recents weeks from the likes of Pep Guardiola stating “Napoli is an exceptional team”.

It seems like such praise hasn’t fallen on deaf ears at Stamford Bridge, as the Premier League champions are working towards an approach for Sarri, as the rapport with Conte has broken down, according to 7 Gold television.

The release clause in Sarri’s contract is believed to be €7.5m, a sum that Chelsea could easily match based on their history. The West London outfit would be willing to pay Sarri a salary worth €12m per year.

Chelsea have had an indifferent season with them ultimately failing to reach the standards of last season so far. This has seen speculation grow surrounding the future of Conte as the Italian has made no secret of his dissatisfaction at Chelsea’s summer dealings.

Chelsea host Everton tonight in the Carabao Cup fourth round as they look to progress to the fifth round of the competition.

It seems unlikely that Conte will be leaving Chelsea any time soon but if he does, Sarri could be the man who replaces him
