Conte believes Batshuayi is “ready” to start more games

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that he believes Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi is “improving” and is now “ready” to start more games for the club, according to a report on the Evening Standard.

Batshuayi has been frustrated recently by being left on the bench by Conte and has been desperate for more game time.

However, following his brace against Watford in the Premier League, Conte feels that he is developing his game and is now confident that the striker will perform to the standard that he desires.

Batshuayi started for the Blues in their 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over fellow Premier League club Everton and although he didn’t find the back of the net, Conte was pleased with his work ethic and contribution to the team.

He said:

Michy is improving a lot, especially under a tactical aspect. He is working very well and understanding what I want from him. He’s improving a lot. I’m very happy. Tonight he didn’t score but he played very well.

Conte admits that last season was difficult for the striker and manager to come to an agreement regarding playing time but the Italian is impressed with how the forward has kept on working hard and he is now ready to reward him for his patience.

The Blues are challenging in all competitions and Batshuayi will be needed to help Alvaro Morata in the striking department.
