Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has defended Antonio Conte over his recent outburst regarding his future at the club, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Italian tactician has come under fire recently and there have been reports insisting that his future at Chelsea could be in doubt.
Various claims have been made in recent times suggesting that Conte’s training methods are not being well received by the Chelsea players, and that he could be on borrowed time at the helm of the club.
However, he reacted with a sensational outburst, blasting the scrutiny over his future, labelling it as “bulls**t”.
Lampard has been discussing Conte’s future at the club recently, and gave his total backing to the former Italy manager following the somewhat peculiar speculation that emerged.
When Antonio Conte spoke out in angry fashion last week, it showed a man in charge of things at Chelsea, not crumbling under the strain. I don’t think it is a bad thing that he showed his emotions. He is pretty cool headed most of the time. But sometimes if you have to say something, you should say it as a manager.
As a player I would be happy with the idea of Conte defending himself and the team as a whole. I would appreciate him nipping it in the bud.
You have to react at certain times. If you always keep your mouth shut, maybe you’re letting things run away that you shouldn’t do. Of course, pressure is not new to him.
Conte will now look to help Chelsea towards Champions League knockout qualification, with a win against Roma on his mind for Tuesday night.
