Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has claimed that he left David Luiz out of the squad to face Manchester United for tactical reasons.
Luiz was omitted from the starting line-up and bench against United, with some speculating it was due to his reaction against Roma.
Conte subbed Luiz off against Roma in the Champions League and the defender reacted in a manner in which you would not expect from a senior player.
The Chelsea boss has refuted those claims though, as he has confirmed that it was only a tactical decision.
Speaking to The Independent, Conte said this:
It’s only a tactical decision, only a tactical decision, only a tactical decision.

Andreas Christensen started in defence and was excellent at the back as they kept a clean sheet.
It’s normal. This can happen to every one of my players, if I see that they are not in good form. It’s normal. I repeat: I have to put my face in every situation, and then to sometimes make important decisions. Today I did this and I think Christensen played a massive game. I was very happy for this.
Alvaro Morata’s header secured the win for Chelsea, as they beat Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard is now on seven Premier League goals for the season, after joining from Real Madrid in the summer.
