Chelsea continue to be linked with a move to bring in a new striker to Stamford Bridge with Diego Costa leaving for Atletico Madrid in January, but it’s hard to imagine they’ll spend huge money having spent a club-record fee on Alvaro Morata in the summer.
The Blues could opt for the developmental route and are supposedly one of a handful of Premier League clubs looking to sign Athletic Bilbao’s highly-rated forward Gorka Guruzeta.
Only under contract until the end of the season, Guruzeta has impressed in recent months, scoring four goals in the final six games of last season for Bilbao’s youth side, form which he’s carried into this season with six goals in the first 14 games of the season in Spain’s third tier.
Another Premier League has joined the race to sign the 21-year-old striker as Newcastle firm up their interest in him ahead of the January transfer window.
Guruzeta came through the Bilbao academy and is also wanted by Arsenal and Tottenham in January when they can open talks over a free transfer move, meaning Chelsea face some real competition if they are to secure his signature.
