Chelsea among those eager to sign Pietro Pellegri

Antonio Conte has reportedly made adding a striker to his squad in the January transfer window a priority and the Blues are named among a host of suitors that want to sign Pietro Pellegri from Genoa, according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.

The 16-year-old striker sent shockwaves around Europe when he became the youngest player ever to score a brace in Serie A during a 3-2 defeat to Lazio which alerted a number of top clubs.

Both Inter Milan and AC Milan are believed to be huge admirers of the Italy U19 international but a transfer to either side remains unlikely, while Chelsea will face competition from Manchester United for his signature.

Pellegri made his first-team debut for Genoa last December as a 15-year-old and has gone on to make nine appearances after coming through their youth ranks, scoring three goals.

The young striker is valued at £36m by Genoa which would be a huge gamble for a player who has only scored three senior goals to date.
