Chelsea look set to part ways with David Luiz in the January transfer window after the Brazilian fell out of favour with Antonio Conte, and the Blues are eager to bring in defensive reinforcements should that happen.
Conte was keen on Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk before Liverpool secured a £75m deal for the Dutchman, but the Daily Star have claimed that Chelsea are monitoring Burnley’s standout defender James Tarkowski.
Tarkowski has stepped in to replace Michael Keane at Turf Moor and hasn’t missed a beat as Burnley continue their magical start to the Premier League season.
The 25-year-old is under contract until the end of next season and Burnley could look to cash-in on the centre-back should he signal his intent to complete a big money move.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move to sign Tarkowski when the January transfer window to solve their own defensive issues but Burnley are hugely reluctant to part ways with one of their key performers.
