Chelsea complete signing of Thierno Ballo

Even though we are less than 72 hours into the January transfer window, Chelsea have finalised their first signing, albeit one for the future.

As reported by the Metro, the Blues have welcome 16-year-old attacker Thierno Ballo to the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge following a successful trial period.

The teenager spent time with Chelsea in 2017 playing for their youth ranks in friendlies and performed well enough to earn a permanent stay.

After turning 16 yesterday, Ballo signed a scholarship deal with Chelsea, leaving German side Viktoria Koln.

Born in Guinea, Ballo was raised in Austria and spent time in the academies at SV Chemie Linz and LASK Linz before leaving to join Bayer Leverkusen in 2016.

Ballo has been a regular at youth international level for Austria, scoring four goals in 15 games for their U17 international side and is widely regarded s one of the best young talents in Europe – a real coup for Chelsea.
