Chelsea’s scouts are scouring Europe’s top leagues to find some potential recruits during the January transfer window and their search has taken them to Portugal.
The Blues had scouts present during a Liga NOS game between Sporting and Belenenses according to Portuguese source O Jogo, but their supposed target has remained underwraps for now.
A number of Sporting stars have caught the eye and been linked with Premier League moves in recent months, including central midfielder William Carvalho.
The Portugal international was linked with West Ham in the summer but has also been on the radar of Manchester City and Arsenal.
Winger Gelson Martins is regarded as one of the best young wide players in Europe, with Manchester United and Real Madrid among suitors, while attacker Daniel Podence has made the headlines this season, laying on eight assists in just 18 appearances across all competitions this season.
