Emerson Palmieri eager to complete Chelsea move

Chelsea appear to have their eyes set on adding a left-back to their squad this month after securing the signature of Ross Barkley from Everton and one of their top targets appears to be eager to complete the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Sky Sports are reporting, via their sources in Italy, that Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri, who is also a target for both Juventus and Liverpool, is keen on joining Chelsea to team up with Antonio Conte in the Premier League.

The former Brazil U17 international has been limited to just two appearances for Roma this season after recovering from a serious knee injury and is looking forward to potentially having a fresh start at Chelsea under Conte.

Palmieri would provide some much-needed competition to Marcos Alonso at left-back and it’s understood that should Chelsea bring in another left-back this month then Kenedy will be allowed to complete a loan move to Newcastle.

Roma are willing to cash-in on the 23-year-old defender if an offer in the region of £20m comes in for him, but Chelsea must act fast if they are to beat both Juventus and Liverpool to his signature.
