Edin Dzeko agrees terms to Chelsea move

Edin Dzeko has recently emerged as Chelsea’s top striker target this month after they wisely put to rest their interest in the likes of Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Ashley Barnes.

Last season’s Serie A top scorer is wanted as part of a package deal along with Roma defender Emerson Palmieri, who is closing in on a £20m move to Chelsea, and it appears as if the Blues are edging closer to securing Dzeko’s signature also.

Calciomercato revealed yesterday that Dzeko was poised to complete a move to Stamford Bridge, with the deals for both Palmieri and Dzeko worth a combined €60m, with €10m coming by way of potential add-ons. Given that the Palmieri deal is reportedly worth £20m, or €23m, that would suggest that the Blues are ready to part way with €37m in order to bring his teammate Dzeko in also.

This morning, it has been revealed that the 31-year-old striker has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Chelsea worth a reported €4.5m-a-year, which equates to approximately £75,000-a-week.

Palmieri is expected in London today to have a medical and complete his move to Chelsea, while the arrival of Dzeko could still take a few more days.
