Alvaro Morata urging Marco Asensio to join him at Chelsea

Antonio Conte is in a race against the clock to bring in some fresh faces into his Chelsea squad this month but Alvaro Morata is doing his part as an honorary Blues recruiter.

According to Diario Gol, Morata has been speaking with his former Real Madrid teammate Marco Asensio about possibly coming to Chelsea with Conte seeking new players.

Asensio is one of the brightest young players in European football but has only made two La Liga starts since October as he’s fallen out of favour with manager Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu and it’s understood that the Spain international is unhappy with his playing time.

The 22-year-old can play across the forward line and could be the perfect foil for Morata in attack, which couldn’t be more timely with the striker netting just three goals in his last 11 appearances.

Conte is also hot on the trail of Roma pair Emerson Palmieri and Edin Dzeko as a deal to bring both in before next week’s transfer deadline likely to go to the wire.
