Chelsea reportedly set to confirm Emerson deal on Monday

Chelsea are reportedly in line to confirm that they have signed Emerson Palmieri from Roma on Monday.

It’s claimed by Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as covered in a report from the Daily Mail, that the Blues will unveil the full-back as their player at the start of the week after concluding negotiations with Roma.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been on the lookout for a competent left-sided defender to help provide competition for Marcos Alonso at the club and it seems Emerson has been recruited to fulfill this need.

Reports have indicated that the Blues have landed Emerson in a deal worth £18m. However, additional bonuses could apparently take the sum up to £22m.

The 23-year-old is not the only Roma player who Chelsea have been pursuing, though, and Conte is visibly interested in signing former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

However, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international’s wage demands appearing to be somewhat excessive, it seems a deal is unlikely to be struck.
