Alonso likely to return for Barcelona clash
Chelsea are set to have Marcos Alonso back in contention by the time their Champions League clash against Barcelona comes around, Football London reports.
The Spanish wing-back was absent from his side’s 3-0 win against West Brom on Monday after it was confirmed by Antonio Conte that he had suffered a knock to his ankle during Saturday’s training session.
Many Chelsea fans feared for Alonso’s fitness but it seems the injury is little more than a knock. The Spaniard is likely to sit out of his side’s FA Cup tie with Hull City on Friday but if Football London are to be believed, he is set to come back into the first-team picture for the visit of Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona side.
Chelsea will be desperate to have as many of their key men fit and available for their game against Barcelona, with the Spanish giants running riot in La Liga this season.
Alonso has been in good form for Chelsea this season and news that his injury is not too serious is sure to come as a big boost.
