Chelsea and Arsenal to battle for Kalidou Koulibaly

Napoli’s star centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly appears set to complete a greatly-anticipated move to the Premier League in the summer, with Chelsea and Arsenal both keen on bringing him to London, according to the Mirror.

The Blues have been tracking the 26-year-old for some time and were reported to have failed with a £52.5m bid last summer before settling on a move for Antonio Rudiger.

However, Chelsea are likely to offload David Luiz in the summer and they will need to replace the Brazilian with Koulibaly at the top of their shortlist.

Barcelona were also linked with the defender in the summer and the Mirror also note that Manchester United could also be tempted into a move for the athletic centre-back with ex-Genk chief scout Roland Janssen, now working at United, being the man who unearthed Koulibaly and brought him to the Belgium club earlier in his career.

Valued in excess of £60m, Koulibaly is expected to be subject to a number of bids this summer as the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal hope to get him signed to their books before the World Cup where his price could potentially inflate.
