Batshuayi confirms season-ending injury

Michy Batshuayi has taken to Twitter to confirm that he will not play again this season.

The striker suffered ligament damage in his ankle during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat to Schalke on Sunday.

The Belgian forward has now seen his World Cup dream put on hold as he focuses on his recovery between now and the summer.

A place in Roberto Martinez’s squad is not out of the question but the forward is in a race against time ahead of the tournament in Russia.

Batshuayi’s time in Germany will seemingly end on a sour note, despite showing some of his best form in the Bundesliga. In 10 domestic appearances for Dortmund, he has found the back of the net seven times, as well as another two goals in the Europa League.
