Chelsea have opened talks with Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon, according to A Bola.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who has scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists in 42 appearances in the Primeira Liga this season, is also said to be attracting interest from Liverpool, who are apparently in negotiations with the Portuguese international too.
The former Udinese man will be most likely be heading to the World Cup with Portugal this summer, and plenty of potential suitors will be keen to see how he gets on in Russia.
Sporting agreed a £87 million release clause in Fernandes’ contract, which they are keen to fully recuperate in any deal to sell him.
It is unlikely that Chelsea would want to pay such a large fee but at the same time, there are plenty of clubs in for the talented midfielder, with Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool all battling for his services.
