Real Madrid are ready to take full advantage over Chelsea’s failure to anchor Thibaut Courtois down with a new contract, as they plan to snatch the Belgian international from Stamford Bridge.
Courtois announced early in March that he would remain at Chelsea next season and that contract talks were underway, but no deal has been penned by the goalkeeper, according to The Mirror.
There is set to be a summer of change at Stamford Bridge with both the head coach Antonio Conte and striker Álvaro Morata uncertain on their futures, the club seems to be in a small crisis.
In addition to this, Chelsea’s failure to secure Champions League football may lead their star goalkeeper to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Courtois is set to enter into his final 12 months of his contract this coming season. The Blues may be forced into a summer sale to avoid losing the Belgian international for nothing next summer.
Madrid boss Perez is keen to replace Keylor Navas who has been lacking these past two seasons. Plus, Perez will be looking for his signature marque signing and the Belgian may just be that.
