Chelsea accept defeat in Pochettino pursuit
Chelsea have accepted defeat in their ambitious move to hire Mauricio Pochettino this summer.
The Telegraph reports that the Tottenham boss is not considering a move away from Spurs, despite interest from Chelsea and elsewhere.
The Blues have been long-term admirers of the Argentinian but have now accepted it would be very difficult for them to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte is set to leave the club this summer and Pochettino had been earmarked as the ‘dream’ replacement.
However, with no Champions League football and Spurs moving back into White Hart Lane, Chelsea were always going to be up against it.
The news leaves Luis Enrique and Maurizio Sarri has the two most serious contenders left, with the former Barcelona boss reportedly at the front of the queue.
Chelsea are likely to make an announcement on the future of Antonio Conte in the coming days following their 1-0 victory in the FA Cup final over Manchester United.
