Lampard urged to make John Terry his first Derby signing

New Derby County manager Frank Lampard should make John Terry his first signing, according to Harry Redknapp.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Redknapp urged Lampard to look no further than his former teammate following his release from Aston Villa.

John Terry… what a signing he’d be! I would still take him for another year; he’s a great professional and great around the place. That would be an interesting one. Jody Morris [Lampard’s rumoured assistant] and John are big pals, so that fits nicely that one.

Terry left Villa following their defeat in the play-off final against Fulham.

The former Chelsea defender has not hidden his intention to play on for another season, but that now looks like it will be away from Villa Park.

Lampard was unveiled as the new Derby County boss on Thursday morning and there has already been speculation that Terry could be in his sights.

The former Chelsea and England midfielder is believed to be working on a tight budget with the Rams, so a free transfer may be an appealing option for the club, despite Terry’s wage demands.
