Chelsea hold talks with the agent of Cristian Pavon

Chelsea are reported to have held talks with the agent of Cristian Pavon over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Argentinian journalist Luis Fregossi states that the Blues will face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal, who have also been keeping an eye on his progress.

The 22-year-old was the stand-out players as Boca Juniors secured the Premeria Division last season, scoring six times and setting up 11 goals for his teammates.

Pavon joined Boca four years ago at the age of 18 and is believed to have cost the Buenos Aires club around €1.3m.

He would cost any potential suitors a lot more now, and his ability to play on both wings, plus his trickery on the ball make him a valuable asset.

With Antonio Conte still in charge at Chelsea, despite rumours of him leaving having been in circulation for months, the club must make meaningful additions if they are to improve on last season’s disappointing finish.

Should Pavon move to Cobham, he will challenge the likes of Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazrad for a spot in the starting XI.

Any move for the Argentinian will likely have to wait until after the World Cup, as Pavon has been called up to Jorge Sampaoli’s 23-man squad.
