Chelsea to step up Lewandowski interest once Sarri is appointed

Chelsea will step up their interest in Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski once they have confirmed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.

The Guardian reports that a move for the Polish forward has been delayed as a result of the managerial uncertainty that has surrounded Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea have been chasing the signature of the former Napoli boss, but his appointment has been delayed with the two clubs apart in their valuation.

However, recent reports have suggested that the Blues and the Italian side have made a breakthrough in talks, with a deal thought to be imminent.

Lewandowski, who scored 41 goals in all competitions last season, has been heavily linked with a move away from Bayern this summer, but Chelsea may struggle to convince the player to drop down into the Europa League.

There is also thought to be interest in Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri and CSKA’s Aleksandr Golovin, with the latter impressing in the early stages of the World Cup for Russia.
