The future of Antonio Conte is still very much in doubt, with Maurizio Sarri hotly tipped to be taking the helm at Stamford Bridge.
And should the former Napoli man become Chelsea manager, there’s plenty of his ex-players that would fit in very nicely at the Blues.
And, according to CalcioNapoli24, Raul Albiol is one of those players that the club are keen on competing for.
Reports suggest the Spaniard centre-back is surplus to requirements in Naples, with Carlo Ancelotti – the new Napoli boss – deciding his future should lie elsewhere.
Chelsea have many draws for a player such as Albiol, money being one. They will have to compete with Villarreal for his signing, however.
The La Liga side, whilst not having comparable financial power, can provide him with the same level of European football and they’re also based in Albiol’s home country – something he may consider a positive.
The defender has made 210 appearances in his five seasons in Italy and has been a key figure in what Sarri achieved in his time at the club.
Fellow teammate Kalidou Koulibaly has also been linked with Chelsea, but it appears – for now at least – Albiol is more likely to leave.
